You are Invited to a Public Meeting

The Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services, WDSPS (formerly the Department of Regulation and Licensing) licenses professionals  including those in veterinary medicine, helps conduct the Veterinary Medical Examining Board and is charged to 'protect the safety, health and welfare of Wisconsin's residents'.  Secretary Dave Ross of the WDSPS will be coming to Northeastern Wisconsin to reach out to those veterinary professionals his department serves.

What:  An opportunity to meet with Secretary Ross  to learn about new programs and to discuss issues involving the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services

Topics the NEWVMA Board would like to discuss with Secretary Ross include:

  • · Unlicensed veterinary practice by lay people and what measures can be done to enforce the law
  • · Ways the department is working to communicate with veterinarians in a timely and consistent manner
  • We are hoping that the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) will soon have a legal veterinary exemption but the bill is awaiting Governor Walker's signature. For now, veterinarians must still collect and report required information; this does affect veterinary businesses.  The WDSP is in charge of this program.

Who:  Any interested person involved in veterinary medicine. We invite you to participate in this public forum to learn more about the initiatives of the department and to share your opinions and views.

When:  Tuesday March 12th at 6:30 pm

Where: Second Floor Conference Room of the Fox Valley Animal Referral Center, Appleton, WI

Details:  A buffet dinner will be provided by NEWVMA to guests who RSVP

RSVP:  Online or through the NEWVMA Office at or by leaving a message with the names of people attending at 920-931-2VMA
