NEWVMA Scholarship

Since 1997, NEWVMA has been providing scholarships to deserving University of Wisconsin-Madison veterinary students from the Northeastern Wisconsin area.

At that time, the cost of tuition and living expenses was just over $18,000 per year.  For the upcoming 2017 year, these expenses are calculated to be just over $40,000 per year!

That means that the average debt load of a student graduate from Wisconsin is currently $125,000 upon graduation!

As an organization, we have already provided over $15,000 in scholarship funding, but we want to do more to offset the growing cost of an education in veterinary medicine.

Typically one scholarship is awarded by NEWVMA per year. Additional scholarships are provided if there is more than one outstanding applicant and if sufficient funds are available.

Our goal is to raise $25,000 over the coming year so that we can add to our existing endowment and double the scholarship amount awarded each year.

We have started a clinic challenge to encourage some friendly competition towards our fundraising goal, and would like to acknowledge the following clinics for their contributions:

  • Wolf River Veterinary Clinic $1,000
  • Kaukauna Veterinary Clinic $1,000
  • Country Hills Pet Hospital $1,000
  • United Veterinary Service $1,100

Individual donations are also welcome to help support our “homegrown” Northeastern Wisconsin veterinary students.  Thanks to the support of a generous benefactor, your individual donation will be matched dollar for dollar up to $5,000!
